Dissonance

by Viola   Jan 23, 2009

I'm a song playing on the radio
A little out of tune
The violins cry
Of the broken heartstrings
The drum beats irregularly
Inside my crammed chest
That's suffocated by the pain
You wrote into it
With a permanent marker
I don't want to do this any longer
As you play the keys forcefully
In discords over and over
And I long to hear your fingers
Strike in harmony
But you
Are determined to hurt me
And I'm just another melody
Waiting to be accompanied
By the perfect tune of your heart
Will you tell me you'll never give up?
Until we get it undoubtedly right
And I'll wait with my broken refrain
Playing again and again in my head
Until you come and play for me
What I've been longing to hear all along

For you, for me
