Beneath It All

by Viola   Feb 6, 2009

I feel this world slipping away from me
Gently sliding off my smooth fingertips
And floating away
Till I'm entirely underneath it all
Underneath the waves of reality
Where your voice comes in echoes and bubbles
Barely comprehensible
Telling me to wake up from this dream
This secluded reverie in my own mind
Where I see nothing but me, alone for miles
And you're trying to get to me
But I don't hear you with the crash of the waves
On the side of the cave I'm in, they splash and draw back
Again and again so I count them
And try to wait for your voice to reach me with the wind
As I wait for the sirens to signal my death
And pray they don't arrive sooner than your face
I hope to wake up before it swallows me whole
I pray you will find me before I give up on it all
