When She Broke

by Taylor   Feb 8, 2009

For years she had been a joyless mess
Trying to find a way to achieve her hope
She made a promise to herself she'd be strong
She threw away the days when she'd sit and mope

She became stone-hearted to the hurtful
Was a protector to herself and her friends
Until she lost the one who changed her life
Her warrior shield was beginning to descend

Alone in her house, it's become night
Watching every sad video she could find
She wanted nothing more but to be happy
Silence whispered as his image filled her mind

She held on to what wanted to be released
A small tear left her eye, her lip quivered
She muttered "I miss you," and finally collapsed
Her tears rolled out and her body shivered

She cursed her life, needing light out of the dark
Prayed for hours straight, wishing for a sign
That everything would be okay and she'd be able to smile
Crying out to no one, her heart broken from the crime

When all she wanted was to be happy
God gave her a life that she couldn't take
After being strong for so long
Her symptoms collided and she began to break
