About A Year( history project)

by Hollywood   Feb 17, 2009

Its been about a year
He never stayed around
I don't know why god would take this man away from me
He was everything to me
My grandpa and my best friend
I am grown but this pain will never fade away.

I am sitting outside
in my muddy boots remembering all the things he told me
He is a man from ancient Greece
He is a man who worked wonders
never took a sick day
couldn't afford to get hurt
worked day to day
only to make a dollar or two a day

I am sitting outside
wondering why this farm still needs to be maintained
I remember him sitting me on his lap
telling me to work hard
for everything that i need and want
Telling me all the things he remembers
His ma waking him up
along with his father and brothers
feeding them then sending them out to the farm
harvesting foods then going along to pick them.
All the grapes to make wine
All the potatoes, cotton, corn and so on

He told me why but thats just to put food on the
tables for others as well as him and his family

I am sad and lonely thinking about him
Wondering why a hard working man
Had to be taken away from all he had worked for
I had no one else to turn to but here I am
Sitting here talking to you
A piece of paper....

It's been about a year
My heart cannot take anymore of this
So cheers to you
I am going to help my papa
pick grapes and corn

But one thing I'll say before i drop this pen and paper
Just because were considered higher class
doesn't mean you cannot work for a whole lot more....
Food is to be put on the table then why not know
we all need food to survive...in the old days they did mostly everything by hand....these days its all factory and machinery.
