To Be Here.

by Babs Bunny   Mar 13, 2009

Hand Raised To The Head, Stiff As A Board.
Standing Straight Up, Holding It There.
A Smirk On The Face.
Brothers and Sisters Doing The Same.

Determination Takes Over Their Eyes,
Standing Still As It Moves Past,
A Proud Time For Them.
The American Flag, Pushing Past Every Solider.

Saluting It With Respect,
Taking Up The Duty Of This Single Job,
Signing Up, Only To Be Taken Away From Loved Ones.
They Do It For The Right.

Comrades Moving Out At The Command,
The Days Come and Go, Feeling Like Eternity For Them.
When, When Is The Day They Get To Go Home. .?
They Fight For Freedom, Not Only Respect.

The Flag Continuously Stands Tall,
With Every Life Being Taken Away.
Hesitating From Every Choice,
It Soon Reflects Later.

Heaven Weeps Over Us,
Wanting It To Finally End.
Blood Shed Takes The Field,
The Rain Cold To The Skin, Must This Continue. .?

War Taking Place Over Ignorant Things.
Yelling, Crying, Misery Takes It Over.
Brothers and Sisters Taking Their Own Lives,
For The Respect and Freedom.

Thinking Of Loved Ones, The Ones They Held Close.
The Ones They Told They'd Be Back,
No Matter What!
They Decided To Fight For This.

It Was No or Never For Them,
The Flag Is What They Stand For.
The Country, It's People, The Love.
Now or Later Will Be Their Time To Die For The Flag.

Standing There, Proudly Saluting The Flag.
It Comes To Their Mind.
Excitement As They Are Ready For This.
To Fight For Their Own Rights.

I like how you used a lot of metaphores. I enjoyed them and feel that they are a part of any poets vocab. this is really one nice poem.

I enjoyed this and felt that it was really well thought out before you even put it up i'm sure you proof read it many many times.

Also, a suggestion make the entire thing a metaphore rather than small ones in each one of them.
