Speed Racer

by Andaltno   Mar 18, 2009

Racing down the hall again
Heading down to class
Feel that rush of wind about me
Ecstasy I wish could last

Though I try to prolong the journey
By jogging, keeping it rough
My feet carry me faster than I want
And still not fast enough

The crowd jeers as I wander about
A kid tries to stop me in my tracks
"Run along little girl!" he snickers. Sure thing,
But never because he asked

Some people take their freedom slow
I've never been so inclined
Freedom of speed is one of my greatest joys
It's part of what keeps me alive

So call me "speed racer", call me "flash"
Whatever suits your tone
I'll never slow down for any of you
Even if it means I run alone.
