Carrousel (Joseph's Star)

by Mr. Darcy   Apr 26, 2009

We
Always hurt
Those we love the best
Does their love mean so little?
Is that the way of true love-
That our hearts feel safe
With those we
Trust?

Her
Beautiful
Smile cracked and fell flat
As his wild words crushed her chest
Tears screamed in silent protest
Bleeding tears of love
From her deep
Well

He
Saw her pain
And his heart twisted
Turning blue with shameful guilt
His anger had no place here
He held her closely
Please forgive
Me

His
Words caressed
Wiping away tears
Soothing her with his kisses
She knew the beast would return
Her heart swelled again
I forgive
You

We
Always hurt
Those we love the best
Does their love mean so little?
Is that the way of true love-
That our hearts feel safe
With those we
Trust?

Excellent work. It seems that at times we lash out at those we love, the people we do trust and we feel safe with. I think it is because they are there but that does not lessen the pain when it happens.

    Dear Michael,

This is a very different Michael I see here. Somehow these "simple"words move me much more than the more difficult verses you usually write.
This hits so close to home and I think it will feel that way for a lot of readers.
You touch upon my heart in a much more profound way with this new style. I hope to see more of this:)
Indeed you are right: we only dare to truly be ourselves with the ones we love most and sadly so: we hurt them deepest of all people around us because we have absolute trust in them still to be there even when we show our worst side.

    ..................We
    ............Always hurt
    .....Those we love the best
Does their love mean so little?
Is that the way of true love-
    ....That our hearts feel safe
    ..........With those we
    ................Trust?

    So very beautiful, Michael!

I always forgive the ones I love too, even when I have said I would never again..because when you truly love someone, that feeling never dies and the really isn't anything the other can do to destroy it.

    Love you, sweet man:)

    *hugs*
