Remembering Goodbye

by Danielle   Apr 29, 2009

I can remember you holdin' me
And thinking the loneliness would fade in your arms
I can remember hearing you whisper; 'I love you'
And telling myself to believe in your words
I can remember thinking maybe your not the one
And walking away

There's places I don't go
Like down that old highway
That's full of twist and turns
I don't go there
Cause I remember you laughing
And thinking maybe forever lays in that sound

I can remember you smiling
And telling myself; 'he'll walk away before I fall'
I can remember you holding my hand
And thinking this isn't the way I feel
I can remember how you'd kiss me
And I cried

There's places I recall
Like that old restaurant out along the edge of town
And I don't think I'll go there again
Cause I remember how you looked that night
And thinking maybe I would let myself fall

I can remember leaving
And thinking this is how loneliness feels
I can remember crying
And telling myself to believe this feels right
I can remember watching you from afar
And thinking you just might have been the one

I only miss you every now and then
Like when the ocean wind blows
And when the evening stars shine
I only cry when you cross my mind
Cause I don't remember if we ever really said goodbye.
