Dear Heart

by Briie   Apr 29, 2009

I am screaming, do you hear me?
Do you even care?
I am on my hands and my knees.
Crawling to my heart, that you did tear.

It is lying there, thumping.
Feebly, it is pumping.
Can I mend it? Do I have that power?
My heart, it is bleeding, it is dying hour by hour.
You stabbed it and you ripped it,
You threw it on the ground and kicked it.

I am fighting for you, innocent organ.
I could lock you up, keep you alone.
I could not let anyone near you,
Keep you cold, turn you stone.
Love no other, fancy no man,
Pump only to live, and just because you can.

No, this cannot be the only way.
Dear heart, you will get to love,
And you will again see the light of day.
I will not shelter you, and I cannot stop it if you break,
You will heal soon, and there will no longer be ache.
