Seeing You Through New Eyes [Contest Entry]

by Alicia   May 25, 2009

My sorrow spills out of my chest.
My heart begins to break.
You've turned our just like all the rest.
There is nothing more to take.

Watch as our relationship dies.
As if you even care.
I'm looking at you with new eyes.
Love me? You wouldn't dare.

You stopped loving me long ago.
I closed my eyes and prayed.
I believed it couldn't be so.
This, with her, it would fade.

I lived the lie and played along.
I ignored your distance.
I realize now that I was strong.
Damn all your persistence!

Why couldn't you just let this go?
Forgive you, yes at first.
Your unfaithfulness seemed to grow.
Your name I had to curse.

I see you with these brand new eyes.
Surprisingly, I'm sad.
Now you'll live with all her lies.
And finally I'm glad.
