Do you even care?

Does it hurt your heart
The way it does mine?
Do you find yourself lying
Repeating "don't worry, I'm fine?"

Do you long for the way
We once shared that embrace?
The day you made so many promises,
The day I couldn't take my eyes off your beautiful face?

Are you putting on this tough guy act
Just to seem cool?
Even though you told me you have a soft side
But can't let it show for fear of being ridiculed?

And every night as you lay in bed
Does your whole body ache with desire?
Every thought and memory
Scorching your heart with fire?

Do you wish you'd never said those words,
The words that broke it all?
The words that I once so carefully trusted
Until you smashed my heart and let me fall?

    Oh dear, from what you have wrote i think he does not care, but he is a chicken, an emotional misfit who isnot worth your love. I felt the emotion and the flow was great. Great poem.

    Repeating "don't worry, I'm fine?"

    That's so true, a lot of people say that. I think that this poem is really one of the few poems that I can relate with on a personal basis.

    Your ending could have been better, I feel that it's something that could be worked on and almost improved. I like a "bam" ending like something that really drives the point home.

    It's a very well done piece. you should be proud that this came out of such a bad situation.
