Then and Now

by DourParoxysm   Jun 7, 2009

As I stepped onto the stage for the very first time
Back in 1999 at Walled Lake Central High
It seemed so large and the lights seemed so bright
And it looked like there were millions of people looking back at me
I sat at the piano and played my song while the magician performed his spectacle of tricks
As the evening came to a close I was full of fear and excitement
My first time on the big scary stage was not going to be my last.
It is now 2009 and I am getting ready to take my final bow
On the stage once so big at a time when I was once so small
For the curtain will come up and I will look out
At the 728 people watching what I do and listening as I sing
Things have been grand for the past ten years.
I still am overcome with emotion whenever I perform
But everything is different now
For the stage is so small and I am so big
