Sunset

by silhouette fairy   Jun 13, 2009

Weak in the knees
she looks into his eyes
they sparkle blue
as the wind blows through his hair.
He pulls her in softly
gently kissing her lips
smiling as he pulls away,
her heart skipping beats.
As they walk down the path
she feels like a little girl again,
like when she first met him.
It was in this park,
he a little older than she.
she almost fell into the bushes,
but he caught her.
His arms warm and careful,
gently helped her to her feet,
blushing she thanked him.
Asking if she'd like company
he joined her.
Hands closely hanging together,
pinkies touch,
then he wiggles into her grasp.
content with it she continues
asking of his name
journeys he's recently been,
replying with short answers
every now and then a question for her
with every step taken
her heart skips
spending the entire day at the park
watching the sunset.
She can't imagine anything better
he walks her home
planning to see each other soon
he kisses her hand
bidding her a good night
she smiles, wishing him the same
up her stairs she climbs
only thinking of the boy in the park
now as they walk
hand in hand
he laughs as they pass some bushes,
"what is it," she questions
"nothing, Just remembering
long ago i met someone in these bushes."
she smiles with his reply,
"yes, I remember"
"whatever happened to her?"
"She married the man of her dreams,
the most delightful mas as i recall."
laughing he kisses her softly
and continues to walk.
they watch the sunset in the park
as they have done every year since.
