Take Lifes Punches ...

I remember a quote
People used to say
But I never really understood
Until this day.

"Life will only get harder from here"
I think about that almost every time
I shed a tear

Pressure is a big part
Of teenage lives today
Temptations of sex, drugs & violence
Never seem to go away.

You never really know
Which road to choose
It seems which ever way you go,
You're bound to lose.

Happiness eventually falls
Right onto your lap
Only to look once more
&& see it gone in a snap.

Why does it seem
I can't smile like before?
As if the joyous part of me
Walked right out the door.

I've come this far
Without giving up completely
I'm trying to enjoy life,
It's very difficult, believe me!

I guess that's the message
I'm trying to send out
To keep your head up when giving up
Is what your thinking about.

Take life's punches
Right in the face
& you'll see things will come to you
At their own pace ...
