Writing this poem,
trying to hold up my head,
its the days like these i really dread.

Hes so amazing,
kisses me and holds me tight,
I swear this boy does everything right.

Writes me love notes,
and doesn't look away,
tells me that hes here to stay,

he gives me space,
and listens to what i have to say,
and when i have to leave,
he begs me to stay.

My parents love him,
hes talented and smart,
the minutes you meet him, you see his kind heart.

He calls me every night,
and he sends me cute little texts,
the problem with Gavin,
it that I'm still in love with my ex.

The minute i laid eyes on him,
i knew it was right,
and i still secretly talk to him every night.

Even though he doesn't have the same quality's as he,
Kevin's the one who makes me happy.

When we kiss the whole world stops,
and when we fight,
my heart just drops.

He lives 400 miles away,
and doesn't care much anymore,
so when he moves back, (2 weeks)
we will see whats in store.

doesn't listen to a word i say,
and only comes back when i walk away.

so what do i use
my brain or my heart,
because I'm not sure,
where to even start.

    I love this poem, absolutely love it. The best poems in the world are the ones that just fly right onto the paper and are about what you are truly feeling. I am in the exact same boat as you. Aside from the fact that I am the Male version of it.lol. I am recently separated from my wife(six months ago) and am just now really starting to Date. I met a girl who is alot like Gavin quality wise, really sweet, but I have this little problem too, lol.... Im still in love with my ex.
    She too makes time stop when I kiss her. Read my poem "Hourglass". I still feel like I am tied to her, read my poem "love Snare"
    But as time goes by more and more and I allow myself to experience life, Im finding that the tie I have with her will disappear and I will find true love in someone else. If you can make things work with the first love then Great... do that. But if your the one giving out more love then you are receiving than I would say get out, because if this guy doesn't love you as much as you love him, your in for alot of the same stuff that separated you in the first place. In that case go with Gavin. In time he could be the one that makes time stop for you with a simple kiss. good luck and I hope to find out what you end up doing.

    6th stanza edit it to is
    Great poem good meter and pace and writing helps to share a problem does it not. In the end the heart wins hands down unless your a cold heart person which being Irish I would find hard to believe ha! ha!
