Yesterday

He sat on the edge of his bed in disbelief.
The girl, he had spent the last four years with,
Wanted to see other people.

He didnt understand;
They had built an empire
For them to reign forever in,
But she no longer wanted it.

Because being treated with appreciation
Was too much for her
but he was raised to be loving
And respectfulso neglecting a her needs and expressing
Sophistic feelings of affection and consideration
Wasnt a behavior he picked up on.

And the question,
Why she wanted to be free,
Played in his head
Like the scene from his favorite movie.

She wanted to leave and left;
Taking all the contents of his heart
Along with her like it was take-out from Bennigans.

He sat on the edge of the bed;
The last place, she and he had been before
She walked away from him. He sat wandering
If his feelings for her left as she hadbut they hadnt.

Because if his feelings had,
He wouldnt have sat on the edge of the bed
And thought about the forever theyll never have,
Because she had left,
Yesterday.
