My poison of choice

by b r i d g e t   Jul 8, 2009

My poison of choice,
you stand, rolling a cigarette
leaning
your back against the wall.
i taste them on your breath
in your bed
from your knuckles to your neck
my poison of choice
words slip and slide so easily
so smoothly manipulated by your lips
your tongue
lies and poetic speeches....
the sweetest sadness in your eyes
clever trick
my poison
injected into my veins
my heart, my head
my memories
you kill off every smile, every memory of a rainbow, swinging in the park till its dark.
the sound of rain outside my window.
my poison smothers these
leaves me in a bed
crying. shivering
like a drug
you take me to my highest
but pull me under to my lowest, darkest place

my poison of choice
i am addicted to everything you are
