Shining Through

by ShyandHurt   Jul 14, 2009

Silently walk through the halls
I'm confined inside of these walls
They think I can't see them
None of them know I'm a gem.

Everyday they think I can't hear their jeers
They don't know me, my loves and fears.
Would it kill them to give me a chance
Are they scared of what they will find once I dance?

I might be blind
I could be more deaf than wood and nail combined
But do realize I can see your hurtful glance
And I hear your words that hold others in a trance.

You know what is funny
Is how sometimes I can see the girl's face that is just so sunny
When I look at her she pleads forgiveness as she can't help
As I carry on with my day through the hurt without a yelp.

I know she wants to help me
But she's just too afraid to pay the fee
By helping me she puts herself up for hurt and she's just too afraid
She would socially die by coming to my aid.

So each day I will suffer quietly
Continue my days looking about hopefully
Maybe someday someone will stop my pain
Then I can finally shine my sun through this rain.

Not really sure where it came from but the message is very simple but for SOME reason so hard for people to understand. Just because someone is deaf or blind or "different" and being beat up on, does NOT mean you shouldn't help them and think they don't see or hear it because they do. I've seen blind kids beaten up and snickered at because people thought they didn't see but please trust me when I say they do. I've had a Deaf child come up to me and simply ask for me to not make fun of them the second I met them because that's what they had dealt with all day. If you see someone being bullied, do the RIGHT thing and help them out. Be bigger and stronger than the rest and stick up for that poor person that can't fend for themselves for one reason or another. Remember...what goes around, comes around.
