God's Gift

[this is the first poem i wrote in a long time so i know it needs work. advice is more than welcomed]

It all started summer of 2007 which was fate
And I knew you were going to be my soul mate
It started with just a phone call
I didn't even know you at all

You're the best thing that's happened to me
And forever and always it will be
I fell hard for you
And with me that's something new

Its been a year and half
And there's no looking back
We now have something to live for
And a new person to adore

We created a start of a new generation
A little baby is in the making
We're going to be parents
And we are going to be damn sure good at it

Its going to be tough
But we are both surely strong enough
Its time for new responsibilities
Especially for a baby

We might run into some problems
And we will overcome them
Look what God gave us as a gift
He gave us a beautiful uplift
