Message In A Bottle

Locked up inside
like a message in a bottle
waiting to be free
waiting to be let go

letting it drift away
like night when it turns to day
out into the sea
let the waves wash it away

until one day it's found
washed up on shore
the bottle was opened
but the message was torn

Opporunities wasted regrets reborn
But within the bottle
is shame and scorn
why have i let this prospect go?

gave it away to someone i don't know
Chances were given but none were taken
My eyes were opened and i was shaken
Through past experiences

Knowledge was earned
From the path I've taken
Lessons were learned.
