Mum

Of everything in life, your mother truly is the greatest gift of all,
She supports you through each moment and is there if you should fall.
An unbreakable bond is formed from the moment you first meet,
A love so strong is felt, there’s nothing that could compete.
A hand to hold on to when things start to get rough,
And her kind words and warm hugs always seem to be enough.
Constantly guiding you through when you’ve lost your way,
She’s there to offer advice and always knows what to say.
From a small child to an adult, she watches as you grow,
Sees each milestone in your life and thinks where the time goes.
She remembers the first time you rode a bike, or said the alphabet.
All the small things that as the years go by you seem to forget.
As hard as it is she stands back and let’s you make your own mistakes,
Always patient while you learn things no matter how long it takes.
When you fall in love for the very first time she’s there for you,
To wipe away your tears if it didn’t work out how you wanted it to.
When you discovered parties, she found many sleepless nights,
She enforced rules and you broke them so there were plenty of fights.
As you turned into a teenager that’s where her nightmare begun,
You spent all your time locked in your room and hated everyone.
Her stress levels rose as you started to disregard every rule.
You were with boys and in cars and you never went to school.
Finally you started working and you sorted yourself out fast,
Your mum was just grateful that those days were in the past.
Suddenly you were grown up and had a life of your own,
Marriage and kids, she couldn’t believe how time had flown.
Although in her eyes no matter what age you will still her baby,
Just as you will always need her no matter how old you may be.
You wouldn’t be where you are today if she hadn’t been there,
So make sure no matter what, she always knows you care.
Always know in your heart your mother will forever take first place,
An everlasting connection nothing in the world could ever replace.
