Old work buddies

by fanniesson   Aug 10, 2009

They meet for coffee
once a month on the fifteenth
in the city at a diner they use
to have breakfast in every morning
for twenty years.

Both with cancer now.
They tell each other stories.
Laugh about internal parts
they're missing,
from operations undergone
to extend lives.
Neither of them give
a damn about
anymore.
