She Is No More

by Felicia Tursi   Aug 16, 2009

She hid the tears,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She hid her pain,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She looked away,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She didn't let you in,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She pretended to be numb,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She acted like she didn't care,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She listened but never spoke,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She kept her heart in,

so you couldn't hurt her.

She tried not to fall,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She told herself she didn't need you,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She told herself it never meant much,

So you couldn't hurt her.

She told herself you'd leave in the end,

So you couldn't hurt her.

And what happened?

You hurt her.

Now she lets no one in,

So she doesn't get hurt.

She hides her pain,

So she doesn't get hurt.

She never fully loves,

So she doesn't get hurt.

She pretends you don't exist,

So she doesn't get hurt.

She avoids love songs,

So she doesn't breakdown.

She bites her lip to avoid tears,

So she doesn't breakdown.

She lies to people,

So she doesn't breakdown.

She covers her scars,

So she doesn't breakdown.

But you just broke her down.

Are you happy?

Does it make you smile?

Do you enjoy killing her?

You're the reason she hurts.

You're the reason she cries.

You're the reason she holds it all in.

You're the reason she breaks down.

You're the reason that,

tonight she is,

no more.
