Take your place

by Bree   Aug 23, 2009

My dreams consist of memories,
Painful, raw and true,
The nails that hammer through my heart,
When i see her with you,

Why did you bother to beg me to stay,
I had nothing more left to say,
You threw it all away,
How could i ever look at you the same?

Did you never think how i would feel?
Does it all consist of you?
How can you be so self absorbed,
Don't you know i have feelings too?

You can have her now,
I hope it works out fine,
Think of me when you say you love her,
Remember that your heart was once mine,

The darkness of the night,
Will be the death of me,
Remembering each fragile moment,
When you said we cannot be,

See her standing at the door,
I knew it right away,
I told you not to speak the words,
I know what you're about to say,

I turned and walked with my held held high,
To not give her the satisfaction of seeing my cry,

I'm strong, she's weak,
She's nothing compared to me,
Give it time and he'll come back,
Give him his own chance to see,

He'll come crawling back,
I'll laugh right in his face,
My perfect boy will be there,
Standing by the door..to take his place.
