My Sister

by ShatteredGirl   Aug 30, 2009

When I look at you,
I think how lucky I am to have you in my life.
You have made me want to become a better person
I see the world more clearer now you're here.
I live every day
Just so I can see you grow each and every day
Next year you'll head off to school
And I'm scared of letting you leave
I'm not ready to let you go
I don't like to think you won't know anybody
That to you these people will be strangers
They won't be people you recognise
They don't know you like I do
They don't know you hate loud noises
That we have to listen carefully to everything
And be ready to put your earmuffs on before you get upset
Do they know the meanings of your words
No they don't
They don't know you like to have your own space
And you don't like it when people get too close
I wish you could stay here with me
But I know that it cant be that way
Everyone will love you
They can't say no to your beautiful smile and long blonde curls
I know you are brave
And you won't be scared
You'll hold you head up high
Just like you always do and you'll shine
Shine brighter than the stars in the sky

* Not really a poem I know but it is just something i feel about my little sister who starts at school next year, all about the struggles that she may face as she has Autism.
