The Day You Left

by Viperness101   Aug 30, 2009

When you left, I was left empty,
You wanted freedom, I received plenty.
You said you cared but now its shows,
All that love disappeared, where to no one knows.

I try to sleep at night, thinking how I can stand alone,
Walking through the night, into the unknown.
The silent whispers of the wind in the dark,
Sing with the motion of the swings in the park.

Like the many thoughts in my head screaming out loud,
All pushing and shoving as if in the middle of a crowd.
I wanted to ask you, why you left me.
But you left enough clues for me to see

I found the lipstick on your collar that morning,
The day after I saw the note with the warning.
The scent of alcohol on your breath at night,
The words on your tongue hinting at a fight.

I used to look into those emerald green eyes,
But now that they are shut, I look to the skies.
I looked to you for help, for guidance, and for love,
I pray for the gods help and for the spirit above.

When I say I’m sat against the wall by the great old oak,
In the first place that we ever met, sat and spoke,
The smile that could be seen in both your eyes and lips back then,
I don’t understand why we can’t go back and start over again.

What about when I am collapsed on the floor crying.
With a smile on my lips but inside, my heart is forever dying,
It takes two halves, two people to make something whole
But it is you that had the power alone to split my soul.

Think about the night we first kissed or when our eyes met,
Just a thing that happened in the past that I have to try and forget.
