Star gazing

by menna   Sep 9, 2009

A big black hole
Inside swarming galaxies
Created by Hera's sprinkled milk
Or maybe a herd of cows

Deep inside the Milky Way
Two friends on a trampoline
On a new year's eve far away
I want a new dog
I want a friend for every star
They say

Deep inside the Milky Way
Lies a faint, washed out image
of wide arms
that seep warmth
and a smell that reminds me
of a wooden house and two old people

Deep inside the Milky Way
Lies a humid summer evening
The fragrance of fresh grass
And a long conversation
On suicide and existence

Deep inside the Milky Way
Lies an elevator and two steps
that witnessed a shattering love
and a lustful goodbye
a twinge in the gut
and a fear of tomorrow's flight

Deep inside the Milky Way
There lies a car window and moving asphalt
like a treadmill underneath an athlete's feet
images of cities and people
pass by like a strip of film

Why does everything look so much more beautiful in retrospect?
Even the greatest pains
Even the greatest pains
