Shadows of a heart

by Holly   Sep 15, 2009

Sitting alone, without a trace
Trying to cover a heart broken face.
Looking around, nothing appears
just her wet face covered in tears.
The sun is shining, yet no shadows are made
In the distance, every smile fades.
Picturing what her heart might look like if it
ever again faced a mirror,
hoping one day to maybe see her life clearer.
Picking up a napkin, wiping her tears away
And finally seeing the first shadow of the
day.
Oddly enough it was the shape of a heart
Never taking her eyes off it, for it might
slowly fall apart.
As she walked, the heart was right beside,
not afraid of leaving or wanting to hide.
Smiling wasn't an option, not before she saw,
why she was crying, her one major flaw.
Her heart was never broken, only needed to
be found.
It was spinning in circles, going round and round.
She couldn't help but smile at every given part,
looking at the shadows of her heart.
