Once In A Lifetime

by Jonathan Coker   Sep 19, 2009

I have heard people say,
When they are deeply and madly in love,
And they are perfect for each other,
That it only happens once in a lifetime,
And I have always wondered what they meant.

I started to search,
To find my once in a lifetime,
And suffered through agonizing pain,
And heartbreak,
Day by dreadful day,
I started to give up hope.

I had no clue,
That there was someone,
Who was searching as well,
Who was beautiful and loving,
Nice and caring,
I thought I was alone,
Until I met you.

With your beautiful face,
And your heart and soul,
That are purer than solid gold,
When I first laid eyes on you,
I instantly fell in love.

I look back on that day,
And see how far we have come,
Through heartbreak,
We have carried on.

And I want you to know,
On this very special day,
That I love you,
And always will love you,
My passion,
My angel,
And my shortcake.
