Brain Dead

The cradle of a budding utopia
Remaining signs of life are twisted
My mind wreaks havoc
As my hands smear blood everywhere

Like a philosophical asylum
No way out, unless treatment fends
Screams fall in sync with midnight dreams
Dreams of life that still wash ashore

My captains dead
Insanity is omnipotent
I avert my eyes from the city
From where I know everyone dies beneath the rubble

I question my existence
I desecrated everything that I love
My soul and the city remain
With one misstep I will drown

For some reason I know there is a continuation for my soul
Claustrophobia creeps up
And I give in
I can't find a way out of my head

Such a deep, dark, emotional poem.
    I loved this stanza -
    "I question my existence
I desecrated everything that I love
My soul and the city remain
With one misstep I will drown." Flawless poem, 5/5. Em
