Goodbye

by Holly   Sep 25, 2009

I still can't understand
what's running through my head
I wish I could just take back
everything I've said

But wishing for the past to change,
isn't doing any good
I have to focus on the now;
must focus on what I should

Focusing is so hard right now
when so many things are broken
Forcing a smile on my face
But still so many words are unspoken

Unspoken words normally cause
the most torn up broken heart
So I must say what I'm feeling
before it really falls apart

What I'm longing to say
is killing me inside
Slowly and dramatically
it's my heart wanting to hide

Maybe because of all the pain it's taken
or the big crack down it's middle
Not so open to love
when all you feel is little

I'm getting smaller now
dissolving in mid air
Tears streaming down my face
while you simply just stand there

So before I leave
and completely disappear
I'd like to tell you what I'm fretting,
my one major fear

"I love you through eternity,
through thick and thin
And since 6th grade,
that's the way it's been

I knew that without your love,
I would surley die
And sure enough, I was right
So I love you and goodbye"

Wow.. this poem seriously almost made me cry.. When I say you're not alone, I mean it. My favorite part of the poem was when you mentioned, "I'm getting smaller now
    dissolving in mid air
    Tears streaming down my face
while you simply just stand there" that. How you feel so hurt, and the guy just does nothing. I've been in a similar situation. I also liked the part about unspoken words.. It's almost like saying nothing is really saying everything.
You captured the emotions of lost love perfectly. Good job at expressing it, - Kayla
