A Midsummer Night's Dream

by effervescence   Sep 28, 2009

Twinkling lights
Glorious in shimmering beauty
Flutters down from the heavens
Brushing the midland forest
This Midsummer Night

Hoary stone steps,
Cracked and worn with age
Lead to the ancestral oak,
Centuries later, still standing,
Guarding its secrets within

The hollow in the tree,
The entrance to Titania's Kingdom!
Dark and lurid,
Nothing but gloom and shadows
For distaste of mankind

One small, glowing light
Floats towards the ancestral tree.
In a flash of shimmering glory
Hollow wood reveals a scene
Of dazzling beauty

In a second, the picture has vanished
The Queen has barred her doors.
The forest dims,
Returning to night's shadows
This tableau, gone,
Seemingly nothing but a Dream...

A very vivid and descriptive write you have here. I felt like at the end of the poem, I didn't even need to look at the picture. You have written this well. Well done, & welcome to the site btw!
