Emancipation

by Faye   Nov 1, 2009

All my life I've been in confinement like a prisoner

Let others dictate to me, saying "I know what's best for her

All my life I've let others live their dreams through me

My own dreams and ambitions were not a reality

All my life I've tried to people please

Not giving a damn about my own needs

Until now, today the chains are released

I've only got one life, and I'm living it only for me

Without cash, I'm paying for my own bail

breaking free from this family and friend created jail

I'm going to walk outside into the sunshine

take control of my life, which is mine

Not giving a damn about what you think I should do

Because my dreams are the only ones I'm making come true
