Funeral

by Mimed Lovette   Nov 13, 2009

The signs were there
subtle but present.
It took the pain away
by making you unconscious.

You're lying on the bed,
struggling to make a sound.
Yet nothing comes out,
not even a word mouthed.

You yearn to reach
and hold a hand.
Just to feel the warmth
and make the first move.

Yet you can never be
for it's breaking you apart.
Slowly but gradually
tearing you away from us.

Yes I do regret much,
for not taking the time out.
Even just for a glance
or to hear you breathe.

And now you've left,
the chance has come and gone.
I can never see you again
like how you used to come around.

The only thing I can do now
is to stare at your face in the photo.
And think of what I should have done
while shedding a single tear.
