Alone *reworked*

by Thrax   Nov 24, 2009

I scale the walls of society
Looking down to what I leave behind
A pair of eyes return my gaze
Blue and curious
Intense as any flame

I look away, start to climb again
Now it is all too evident
The reason for this wall
To protect from the loneliness
That surely lies beyond

I stand at the top now
Looking back at those eyes
Still returning my gaze
Focused on my endeavor
Curious as to why I do this

I turn away from my past
Freedom lies in front me now
A long drop into a cold lake
I extend my arms above my head
And dive into my fate, alone
