Heart's Progression: Part I

by Niveus Nox   Dec 18, 2009

(This poem is the beginning of a work in progress, which will be split into an unknown number of parts.)

In my thoughts it slumbers,
awaits the rising tide.
For when the lit moon shines,
blind hope dances on,
slowly swaying to the stars,
like the crest's ascent to sky.

Once the time is right,
hope is calmly roused
by the gentlest of breezes.
An enchantress stirs unknowingly,
a monster, my weakness
in the deep, disguised.

Hope's wings flutter forth,
allurement comes in full.
But, as the heart gets more entwined,
the threads begin to fray
and snap in pain.
The leviathan emerged.

The colossus seizes all
heart and mind with haste,
in a spindrift of fury
breaking all chances
for spark to switch to flame.
Hope completely fades.

the use of AND in the third stanza, 5th line, for me kind of breaks this well flowing piece up..other than that its well written.
