My path, my love

by Amy Jo   Dec 21, 2009

Sometimes the pain can't be held,
and it just breaks through my smile.
Sometimes my smile covers the agony,
and I won't talk for a while.

Don't call me a victim
I chose this path I'm walking down.
I have to find my way
and keep my feet close to the ground.

I'm going to take my chances,
love won't set me free.
I won't be on the sidelines anymore,
I've learned what it takes to be me.

Time won't wait forever
and I'm going to take advantage
I'm changing starting right now
This life's my only privilege.
I can't let me down.

I want to smile forever
I want to laugh forever
I will be broken or together
But I will be happy

Minutes I start to break down
The tears start to fall
Then I grind apart
and slowly begin to stall...

I'm better than these tears,
I'm stronger than this hurt
Even if I wasted so many years
I still know how to flirt
and I feel this smile.

I will find my final place
in your arms or my own
but I will do it happy
no matter the weakness I have shown.

When the pain breaks through
I will cover it with the positive
But it will be no camouflage
I'm gonna be happy.
I'm gonna find my way.
