Love is a Battlefield

by Amberinaa   Jan 16, 2010

Tear streaked cheeks are my latest trend
you think I'd be used to your goodbyes
but every time I'm stabbed from the truth;
your candy coated lies.

Another useless battle,
ended bad tonight.
I've lost my will to carry on,
I've lost the will to fight.

Love is just a battlefield,
soldiers wounded everyday.
And life is just path
leading every single way.

I've got another broken heart
Can I just add it to the pile?
I've got a soulless body
and it's been like this awhile.

I'm a washed up lover
whose dreams have crashed and burned.
I'm afraid to love again
what lesson could I possibly have to learn.

But love is just a battlefield
Soldiers are wounded everyday
and life is just path
leading every single way.

Tripping over bodies,
that just didn't stand and fight.
I'm not gonna be a loser
in this battle of love tonight.

I'm gonna pick up all the pieces,
I'm going to fight for what I need.
I've got a starving heart
and this time I'm going to succeed.

Love is just a battlefield
and wounds will always heal
Life is just a path thats soon to be revealed

Absolutely wonderful work. I love how you really made it relate to a battlefield. Great descriptions and powerful emotion. Each line made me want to read more and more. So glad you started writing again.<3Raych
