A Prayer for Haiti

by Melanie   Jan 19, 2010

Your world is filled with devastation
There is debris everywhere
This has forever changed your nation
It will take years for things

To go back to the way they were
So the world is praying
That you pull through this disaster
And that you will find peace

Our hearts and minds are with you
As well as your deceased
You will pull through
This earthquake that has struck

This earthquake that has turned
Your life upside down
This wreck that has burned
A hole in your heart

So we pray for Haiti
For all those injured and killed
Whether you were eighty
Or fifteen

You were still a life lost
No matter your age
Nothing can cover the cost
Of the damage that was done to your hearts

You're welcome. I really wish I could fly to Haiti and volunteer. I feel like just giving money just isn't enough. I heard on the radio that Haiti has a corrupt government and that money may not be used the right way if given directly to the government.

It's good that awareness for the disaster there comes through on so many different places. Thanks for sharing this poem and leaving us to think about our own lifes, and about what happened there.
