The Man on the Hill

by Grunge Angel   Feb 4, 2010

"I miss you" said the man
Sitting quietly on a hill
"I know I can feel you,
and though it might sound silly,
I forever, and always will."

The woman sitting next to him
smiled gently and replied
"Man, you are not silly,
I find you sweet and charming,
you've no reason to hide."

The man then slowly bent
until he reached his knees
Looking up he whispered
"I'd like your hand in marriage,
you mean everything to me"

The woman broke into tears
before she said "I will,
I'll love you dear man
forever and a moment
as we stay here on this hill."

Years passed, here and gone
as they lived upon that hill.
The man made the woman happy
and in return, for her joy
His orders she fulfilled.

But the woman soon grew tired
of living life so bored
So she packed up all her things
and taking all her joy
she walked out, nothing more.

The man sits to this day
out upon his hill
Expecting the woman to return
and love him once again
But he soon grew ill.

Still he sat there
through the cold,
and the whipping winds.
His final words in a little note
hoping one day she would hold.

"One day when I'm writing
No doubt that I will
You'll remain within my words
My pages, you will fill."
