Afraid to Sleep

by Adelaide   Feb 9, 2010

Fear keeps me from sleep;
I fidget under the covers and weep.
Worry wages war against my soul;
life is entirely out of my control.
Your heart beats way too fast;
all I can ponder is the past.
Are you still breathing?
Fear stays instead of leaving.
Life is held together by a fraying thread;
I could not go on if you were dead.
Please hold on and fight;
you are my life's light.
