Pretend

by MidnightWishes   Feb 13, 2010

No one ever sees her cry,
Never sees her hurt,
They all think she's strong,
No one knows they're wrong.

If only they knew,
Knew how her heart breaks,
All the scars she carries,
The nightmares that dark brings.

She still plays that childhood game,
Except now it has a different name,
Now it's called surviving,
Getting through the days.

The little white lies,
The perfect fake smile,
That carefully crafted laugh
That girl has fooled them all.

Now her whole life is one big game,
Everyone has joined in,
And she didn't even want to play,
But he's made her into a perfect little actress,
So she has no choice,
And this one is her biggest pretend yet.
