Up is Down

by WaitAutumn   Feb 25, 2010

Manipulated by the wires attached to their limbs,
the figures advanced collectively in a robotic trudge.

Void heads sagged in dejection as their loose legs
foundered against the pavement.
Then tugged back up to take another step.
Bobbing repeatedly into nihility-

-step by step-

At the center of the drove, the wire of one
of the figures snapped off.
It's empty arm swayed freely -
-snap- goes another wire

-snap snap snap-

Released from the senseless control,
it sprawled unwillingly against the concrete.
Trampled heavily by the perpetual movement,
it's unleashed limbs were squelched.

-thumb, squish, thumb, squish-

A deluge of condensed clouds roared
as it surged in billows.
Sheets of rain fell upon the crippled figure,
it's limbs sponged up the creamy liquid
until it cluttered disorderly.

-slurp-

It dabbled it's head in the stream of cream -
until it filled up.
Outstretched it's arms -
and tried to get up.

Gamboling awkwardly in the opposite
direction, it lunged forward.
The mass unexpectedly halted -
-tic toc, tic toc-

The sound of the orbs thumping against
the sides of the socket -
Shifting left to right - in search of the
detached one.
- tic toc, tic toc -

The panicked figure was girdled,
shunning the million grasping arms.
Gradually compressed against the mass,
it resiled - into a puddle.

And fell up -

.......'til the very top .

.......plunging

.......dropping

.......tumbling

.......it went

.......Up, up

-pop-

Emerging from the dupple -
Around it, figures faltered in
odd directions - spinning -
It got up, and with a stitched grin
entered the swirling movement.
