Wall

by The Lady of Shalott   Mar 9, 2010

I gave everything, to no avail,
and was left crushed and broken.
I cursed and swore to the heavens above,
It wouldn't repeat by the same token.

The endless nights of tears and pain,
That drenched my life and heart...
Sweet words spoken, intended to heal,
Alas, only tore my world apart.

So now I ache and weep in vain,
But no ears can hear my cries...
Even as I scrawl these words,
A sacred part of my soul dies.

A wall around my heart,
built up for protection,
yet my heart's decayed into a tomb
as dark as my reflection...
