Jew vs. Hitler

by Not Enough   Mar 10, 2010

**School assign. I could only use words from the first chapter of the book The Sun Flower by Simon Wiesenthal.

I remember when they began to take everyone away
Neighbors, friends, acquaintances, every Jew was prey
Some were sent to death chambers, some sent to work
And even in the light all we could see was dark

I merely laughed bitterly at the meaningless news
When my soldier spoke of the torture he lay upon the Jews
Jews no longer bring darkness and make our lives worse
They will be destroyed and banished from this Earth

"You are no longer an essential worker" they say
Now into the death chamber my body will lay
There is no reason to keep my alive, not even one
For what good am I other than the work I get done

I will now be remembered by all of humanity
I will simply fall asleep with peace and placidity
I will go unpunished while bodies of Jews fall like lead
Voluntarily ending my life with a gun to my head

Where was God during suffering times like these?
Where was God when the soldiers whips would not cease?
Our faith is all we have, and this is all we can believe
God could not watch the suffering; God was simply on leave
