Innocence

by CrossMyHeartAndHopeToDie   Mar 11, 2010

My dress was beautiful
Unstained, crisp and white
I kept it so
Through innocence and bliss
I wore it for as long as I could
Many admired its beauty
But life and love tore it apart
And left me in rags
The many that once admired
Now click their tongues
And shake their heads
And mumble "she was beautiful once"

A sad poem, but alas filled with truth.
I liked your use of the metaphorical dress to help colour this piece. I also like the way you convey the negative opinion at the end.

    Well done.
