Not a Farewell

by Jamie   Mar 13, 2010

This is my farewell, my last shout out to you
I have seen you rise and fall
Like the Roman Empire, epic in its tale.

You have watched me fall, fall, fall.
When there has never been a promise of a rise.

I have seen the love in your eyes
And twisted the hurt in your face

I have watched you watch me
And look away in shame

A genuine smile and look of content
Has swept across your face
At my expense.

I have loved you loving me
And taken a full ride to leave.

Oh, I have missed you
And will never say farewell
That hand clutching onto my heart
Has continued to hold strong.

I am loving someone else
While still loving you

I am watching you hurt
While killing myself.

I am letting you go,
Granting you a freedom you don't desire

But how could you, want to stay my prisoner?

Cursed, beaten and bruised
I have done you wrong

And you have endured it with a smile
Knowing it would not last long.

I'd kill myself a hundred times
Just to make you happy

Yet I could not kill myself once
Just to feel content.

I could have stayed if I wanted to
But I couldn't get myself to bear it through for you.

Time will pass by and we will grow apart
But we'll stay forever, in each other's hearts.
