Forbidden Fruit

by Rhiannon   Mar 13, 2010

I'm the forbidden fruit that you refuse to taste
the heart you refuse to open up
I'm the moon, just out of your reach
The one you can't help but want
But you won't let yourself have me
Just beyond your fingertips
Is a world you won't let yourself know
Fear
Hope
Love
Want
Need
Which one doesn't fit?
How can you know something you never experienced?
Would it be everything you need?
Everything you wanted?
Everything you loved?
Everything you hoped for?
Or is it the one thing that you fear?
How can you know?
The heart knows.
But you won't until you listen.
Take my hand
Forget the world
Forget the misconstrued feelings
Take my heart
You know it's yours.
Or walk into the darkness
Never to return.
The point you can't come back.
When you try, it may be too late.
For the sunshine will have left
Leaving only darkness behind.
Take my hand.
Walk away from the dark.
Taste the forbidden fruit.
Allow yourself to touch the moon.
You'll never know what could have been.
What might have been.
What should have been.
Until you try.
