Burn

by Rhiannon   Mar 13, 2010

Inhale
The heat burns down my throat
Numbing it like it does my pain.
Exhale
Slow and steady,
My troubles escape with the smoke.
Breathe in
Long and deep
The pain starts to go away
The minty taste on my lips
Disguises the poison that it brings
I breathe out
A little piece of me goes with it.
As the smoke fades away my morals do too.
I’m left feeling empty
The chemicals trick my brain into feeling good
But I know it’s not
Inhale the danger
Exhale the pain
Breathe in the numbness
Breathe out the memories.
