I Long For The End

by nobody truly knows me   Mar 17, 2010

Drowning in a sea of troubles,
Slowly sinking deeper.
Fighting death, wanting breath,
The light grows steadily dimmer.

Memories flicker through my mind,
Replaying grievances past.
Taunting me, haunting me,
How long will I last?

The pain slowly doubles,
I long for the end.
To sleep, to dream,
Into death I descend.

But what will I find
Amongst the sleep of the dead?
Dreams of grief or relief,
Or an echo of the life that I fled?

Some of you may have noticed that this poems contains allusions to Hamlet's to be or not to be speech. We were assigned in my Ap Literature class to rewrite the speech and make it more modern. This is the result. =D
